If you want to communicate an important message do what skullcandy.com does–

I would have made 1 change– added a close button to free shipping banner so that visitors have an option to remove it from their screen.

  1. This looks like the Hello Bar and it was set up without the option to close it. When I clicked the bar on this website, a pop-up window showed up under the bar with more info about their free shipping offer with the option to close this window (luckily).

    I use the hello bar for the same reason, to get the message across whether it’s a new product, discount or an important update … and with the option the close it.
